Introduction: Ectopic pregnancy is a common clinical condition that presents high rates of morbidity and mortality if not diagnosed in a timely manner and treated appropriately. In recent years, clinical treatment with methotrexate has established itself as a cost-effective therapeutic option when administered to patients who meet certain clinical eligibility criteria. However, in Brazil there is a scarcity of publications on ectopic pregnancy, and in particular, those that evaluate the effectiveness of clinical treatment. Objectives: To describe and compare the rates of clinical treatment, expectant management and surgical treatment for ectopic pregnancy. To evaluate the success rates of clinical treatment and the factors associated with prognosis after treatment. Methods: A retrospective descriptive study will be conducted to determine the rates of clinical treatment, expectant management and surgical treatment for ectopic pregnancy, in addition to determining the success rates of clinical treatment and the factors associated with prognosis after treatment in women who were treated at the Hospital da Mulher Prof. Dr. José Aristodemo Pinotti CAISM/UNICAMP from January 2000 to December 2015. All medical records of women admitted from January 1, 2000 to March 31, 2023 who have the ICD codes corresponding to ectopic pregnancy registered as hospital discharge codes will be evaluated. Approximately 650 medical records will be analyzed. Statistical analysis: Descriptive statistical analysis will be performed to inform the frequency and percentage of performance of the three types of treatment, in addition to performing a trend test to compare possible differences in these rates during the study period. The success rates of clinical treatment will be described and a trend test will be performed to verify possible differences in the annual success rates of clinical treatment during the study period. To evaluate the factors associated with the success rate after clinical treatment, the chi-square or Fisher's exact test will be performed for categorical independent variables; T-test or Mann-Whitney test for continuous independent variables; in addition to logistic regression to obtain the Odds Ratio and Cox Regression to obtain the prevalence ratio. The significance level will be assumed at 5%. An Excel file will be generated with all the data collected. For questions and possible reuse of the data, please contact the authors by email.
